Breaking the Scoring Plateau
Many golfers reach a point where their scores stagnate. They can hit great shots occasionally, but are plagued by frustrating inconsistencies—a sudden slice off the tee, heavy iron shots, or a lack of distance control. The Intermediate Golf Coaching program is dedicated to diagnosing these recurring faults, understanding the "why" behind the ball flight, and creating a reliable, repeatable swing.
At this stage, you likely understand the basics, but you may have developed compensations in your swing. We work on identifying the root cause of your most common miss, rather than just treating the symptoms.
Who This Is Suitable For
This program is designed for players who consistently score between 90 and 110, have a functional swing but lack predictability, and want to understand their own game better. If you are tired of losing golf balls to the right, struggling with contact, or feel like your swing relies entirely on timing, this coaching will provide clarity.
Skills Covered in this Program
- Ball Flight Laws: Understanding the relationship between clubface angle and swing path, and why the ball curves.
- Impact Dynamics: Improving angle of attack, low point control, and smash factor for crisp iron strikes.
- Weight Transfer & Pivot: Moving efficiently through the ball to generate effortless power and sequence the swing properly.
- Distance Control: Developing a system for wedge yardages and understanding your true iron distances.
- Fault Diagnosis: Learning how to self-correct during a round when things start going wrong.
The Coaching Approach
For intermediate players, the coaching shifts from broad concepts to specific mechanics. We utilize video analysis to pinpoint exact moments in the swing—such as the transition or impact position—that require adjustment. The goal is to build a "stock shot" (a reliable go-to ball flight) that you can trust under pressure. We will also discuss course management, highlighting how poor strategy often exacerbates minor swing flaws.
Practice Considerations
Practice for intermediate players must be highly deliberate. Moving away from purely "block practice" (hitting the same club repeatedly) to "random practice" (changing targets and clubs every swing) is crucial for transferring skills to the course. You will receive structured practice plans detailing exact drills to perform.
